I purchased this car in 2002 from the original owner. The car was partially disassembled and had not been on the road since 1974. I restored the car over the next four months, including painting in my brother’s garage. We have many fond memories with our three kids of going for ice cream, doing parade with their grandpa and doing several trips around the country (Louisville, Detroit, Chicago, Buffalo, Jacksonville, San Antonio, Dallas, Chicago and many more). The car goes to cars and coffee almost every weekend where it’s fun to educate folks on the Corvair as the “American Porsche” and dispel the myths raised by Ralph Nader. I have a few other collectible cars but plan to keep this one in the family for many years to come!
